In 2006, I flew halfway across the world to attend grad school. It was supposed to be a two-year stopover, but things didn't work out the way I thought they would.
I'm now a local with a job, a car, a house, and a family. I love many things about my new life: the freedom, the copious supply of hot water, the wide open spaces, the absence of traffic, the privacy. But I hate many things about it too: the cold, the loneliness, the chores, the jokes I don’t get, the lack of shared history.
So here you'll find snippets of my journey, as I try to transform this tiny piece of the universe to a place that truly feels like home to me.
